Car Parking Survey – Melksham (central)

Wiltshire Council are undertaking a survey across the county to gauge public opinion on car parking.

The Community Area Partnership is acutely aware that this is a subject which has sparked much debate, and although the Melksham survey only specifically addresses car parks in the Town Centre (Bath Road, King Street, Church Street, Lowbourne, Union Street and the Railway Station), we consider that since car drivers from across the whole community area use the facilities provided, it’s only fair that it’s brought to the attention of as wide an audience as possible.

We are perhaps fortunate here in Melksham in having free two- or three hour parking available in Supermarket car-parks fairly close to the town centre, something not all of our neighbouring shopping centres can boast, and you may wish to bear this in mind when answering questions which relate to unified parking policies across the whole of Wiltshire.

It’s also worth noting that there are no questions which deal specifically with the issue of street parking, particularly close to the Town Centre or around schools, so you may wish to make additional comments where allowed (questions 3 and 10).
